Candlewood Lake Council No. 11913 of Brookfield, Connecticut hosted a “Meet and Greet” with Christopher Mannion, the young seminarian for the Diocese of Bridgeport whose vocation is being sponsored by the Council as part of our “Sponsor a Seminarian” program, under the umbrella of the Knights of Columbus’ “Refund Support Vocations Program”, aka “RSVP”.
Christopher, a native of New Fairfield, is currently studying at the St. John Fisher Seminary in Stamford, Connecticut. He was able to spend the afternoon and evening with the Council at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic Church in Brookfield, Connecticut – attending our First Saturday Rosary and the Vigil Mass before joining parishioners and Brother Knights for a “Meet and Greet” reception in the Church Hall. Christopher graciously answered questions about his vocation, before being presented with a check from Candlewood Lake Council in support of his studies.
This is the beginning of what we hope will be a long relationship, as our Council continues to sponsor and support Christopher throughout his studies and into the Priesthood.
We’d like to thank Christopher for accepting sponsorship from Candlewood Lake Council. We’d also like to thank Fr. John Connaughton, Vocation Director for the Diocese of Bridgeport – and Fr. Shawn W. Cutler, Pastor of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys – for helping us to connect with Christopher and “get the ball rolling”, so-to-speak.
And, of course, we must thank all of parishioners of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church of Brookfield, Connecticut – for supporting our “Sponsor a Seminarian” program through the Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser we held at St. Marguerite’s at the end of June. Without your support, this would not be possible!
We pray for Christopher Mannion… for all Seminarians… for all who are currently studying or who are considering religious vocations. May the Lord bless and guide you always!
